Plumbers submitting a report must use State Government Form 9 - Report on inspection and testing of backflow prevention devices, registered air gaps and registered break tank.

Backflow prevention devices protect our drinking water supply from contamination by stopping potentially polluted water flowing back into the system.

Only a Queensland licensed plumber with a backflow endorsement can test the device. As the owner of a property, you are responsible for having the backflow device tested annually.

If the test fails, the plumber must repair or replace the device immediately. It is a criminal offence to tamper with, or remove, a backflow prevention device without approval.

Installing a backflow prevention device stops polluted water entering the drinking water supply. A testable or non-testable device can be installed, depending on the risk of contamination.

Backflow registration fees are charged annually, via an invoice, and are automatically renewed upon receipt of payment. For further information on fees, see our Register of fees and charges.

Project pricing at Plumbing-Deals is tailored to meet your specific project. The size of a plumbing job that qualifies as a project can vary, generally its larger than a single bathroom or kitchen remodel. By submitting the form or calling, you're taking the first step towards receiving a customized quote that considers your project's scope, timeline, and budget, ensuring a seamless and cost-effective solution for your plumbing parts and supplies.

The City is required to maintain a program for the registration of testable backflow devices. Registration happens automatically when the device is commissioned by a licenced plumber and is updated every year after the device is tested.
