AMES DC DESCRIPTION This is a double check assembly. Production was discontinued approximately 1986. The Ames DC uses a spring loaded pivot action knuckle joint check assembly. Special tools are suggested for proper repair. The 4" and 6" sizes use the side mounted check design which requires the retainer clip tool for proper repair. The 8" and 10" sizes use the tower mount design which requires the tong tool for proper repair. The internal hardware parts of the check mechanism are made of stainless steel. Check springs are contained when the covers are removed but must be released for a repair. The bronze check seats are replaceable. A seat removal tool is required to change the seats. This assembly had a welded fabricated steel two piece body. The bodies were available in either galvanized or fused epoxy coatings. This model uses the rubber disc design of check seal on sizes 4"-6". The 8" and 10" use the vulcanized clapper plate design of check seal.
