3/4" Watts LF909-QT-HW Reduced Pressure Zone Assembly. Currently the only device approved for hot water operation. Lead free, bronze body feature three covers. Known as the "Cadillac" of backflow preventers, the 909 is constructed of high quality parts for reliabilty and ease of service. Features full port, quarter turn ball valves on inlet and outlet. The hot water device has stainless steel check seats instead of the standard plastic found in the regular 909. Fully testable.Air gap drian fitting listed below is recommended. Designed to pipe a drain onto the relief valve port to avoid water damage due to relief valve discharge.

Pressure reducing valves (PRV’s) and expansion tanks for homes with 80psi or higher, installed on a residential property can address the concerns of customers with high water pressure and take practical steps towards optimizing water consumption through utilization of this method of water conservation.

Air Gap Drain Fitting The air gap drain fitting is designed to attach to the relief port and pipe to a drain to direct any discharge to a safe place. Bottom features a 1/2" Female NPT Connection.

Reduction of water pressure can offer homeowners substantial water savings (mostly in irrigation systems) and more sustainable water consumption without compromising distribution system operations across our service area.

If you think this may apply to your home, you should first consult a licensed, professional plumber to properly diagnose the pressure level.  They can then discuss installing the pressure reducing valve and expansion tank and regulating the valve to adjust the irrigation and household fixture pressure.  Keep in mind, your irrigation components may need to be adjusted further to fine tune your system after installation.

Based on data from similar programs implemented in other utilities, we anticipate that Fort Worth Water customers with high private plumbing pressure could achieve water savings of up to 30% annually in each home that installs a Pressure Reducing Valve (PRV) and associated expansion tank. Typical homeowners who reduce pressure from 80 to 60 psi could be expected to save 12,800 gallons of water per year.  Customers with higher water pressure and greater irrigation system usage could save well over 40,000 gallons of water per year.

Pressure reducing valves (PRVs) are a type of valve installed in a plumbing system to regulate water pressure. Pressure reducing valves are designed to reduce high incoming pressure from water mains to a lower, more efficient water pressure throughout a customer’s private plumbing.
