A check valve is a one-way fitting component used to prevent fluid returns inside pipes, with waste water or rainwater for example. As the fluid can only run in one direction, and as the flow is blocked in case of a backflow, the role of a check valve is to protect systems and equipment from these types of backflows, preventing them to cause damage inside buildings.

Check valves are very widely used on all types of networks in construction, to prevent the flow to change direction: heating, drinkable water, hot water and cold water, water grids and networks... Check valves are usually installed on domestic individual discharge points, such as main collectors, sinks and basins, shower trays, washing-machines, heating overflows for example.
