“Our senior leadership team is fully engaged with the programme and is eager to draw from OWGP’s industrial expertise and experience.”

All four companies will reap the rewards of support tailored to their needs, with the specific aim of increasing competitiveness and productivity within the offshore wind sector.

A long time provider of services to the onshore sector, Windhoist, has over the last few years developed into offshore pre assembly and offshore labour provision as the market moves toward offshore installation and maintenance.

Euan Fenelon, chief operating officer of Windhoist, said: “The Sharing In Growth programme offers us an excellent opportunity to improve and expand our performance delivery to the offshore renewables market, giving us the ability to expand commercially and in geographic terms.”

Tekmar Group in Darlington and Glasgow-based Windhoist Holdings Ltd are the latest two recruits to the Offshore Wind Growth Partnership’s (OWGP) Sharing in Growth programme.

Windhoist, meanwhile, is a global wind turbine installation contractor offering heavy cranage, mechanical and electrical services to wind turbine manufacturers.

“The wide range of expertise has provided some insight to conceptual manufacturing processes that we can use to shape plans and seek to implement now, to ensure the success of our facility in the future. Sharing in Growth have demonstrated a straightforward, candid and professional approach, adapting their support to our unique position, ensuring we maximise benefit from the engagement. We look forward to collaboratively developing our roadmap for future activity and celebrating the success it will bring.”

News of AIM-listed Tekmar Group’s involvement follows on from the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding earlier this week with Maine-based DeepWater Buoyancy. The firms will pool their expertise to focus on the new and emerging floating offshore wind market.

North East subsea specialist Tekmar Group has been picked for an offshore wind programme designed to help supply chain companies maximise their potential.

Matthew Doyle, commercial director of Wescott Industrial Services, added: “The programme has been extremely helpful and insightful to our senior leadership team. It has allowed us to review our practices and procedures and understand where we need to improve to develop the business and continue to grow. It has allowed us to focus on understanding our key objectives and how to achieve them through developing a comprehensive strategy and workplace culture.”

“We look forward to working with Sharing in Growth to develop a bespoke business improvement plan that aligns with our growth strategy.

Alasdair Macdonald, chief executive of Tekmar Group, said: “Tekmar Group is delighted to have been selected to join the programme.

Tekmar provides technology and services for the global offshore energy markets, including subsea cable protection systems to windfarms around the globe.

OWGP and Sharing in Growth UK Ltd have been working collaboratively with supply chain companies in the offshore wind sector since the start of the year, and are looking to engage with six to eight companies.

Tekmar and Windhoist join Global Energy Group (GEG), in Aberdeen, and Wescott Industrial Services based in Jarrow, South Tyneside, which have just completed their first 100 days on the programme.

Iain Sinclair, executive director of Renewables and Energy Transition at Global Energy Group, said: “Our first 100 days of engagement with the OWGP Sharing in Growth programme has been a very positive experience.

Combining experience from the aerospace and offshore wind sectors, the programme requires significant commitment from participating companies’ management teams, focussing on all aspects of the company that contribute to productivity, from leadership and culture to operations and logistics.

The OWGP is funded by members of the Offshore Wind Industry Council (OWIC) and as part of the Offshore Wind Sector Deal has a ten year budget of £100m to support the growth of the UK supply chain.
