yes it canbe repaired. the balancing spool in the valve is stuck - - - - - - - PLUMBERS "Protecting The Health Of The Nation"

Powers HydroGuards comes in several different series. Which model do your have.. as advice would be different if your series uses a balance spool vs a gas motor. Hydroguard, is a anti scalding/pressure balancing system. Normally when the water pressure drops on the cold side, the hot water will drop too and vise versa. You may have problems with supply temp and pressure or you may have a dirty valve that needs attention. Once the handle and faceplate are remove you will see the body of the valve. It will contain the Series, Model and Serial number information. Powers, sells kits.. rather than parts. Once again, all based on the Series, model and serial number of your showervalve. The older equipments uses alot of brass. Soaking in white vinegar, those internal parts after removal may resolve the problem or using one of many kits available. Some Powers valves have check stops with screens that can clog too. Know your Series, Model and Serial Number. Best Wishes

thank you all so much for your reply. i will look into the model number today and post some pics if i have to Edited 1 times.

i have a powers hydroguard shower valve. it is a single handle unit. when i turn on the water it comes out of the shower at a good pressure, but when i keep turning it to the hot side the pressure decreases dramatically to a trickle. my question is is this a problem with the valve that can be repaired?

Basically, you need to find out if it is a 400, 800, or 900. If you post some pictures of the handles, that will help. We might need to see pictures of all the internals.

Amen Jimmy! And then there was the Biltmore Series 900 models 1-thru 9. Much is determined by the shape of the handle and design of the faceplate. And the 400 and 410 Series. You gotta love those hydroguards. Best Wishes
